I was just about to write that our modern-day life structure is kinda made for couples, we don't have great examples (or the infrastructure!) for the kind of friendship where you live close to others and do things together such as going grocery together, or cooking and sharing some leftovers, borrowing a ladder from someone when you need it... these are silly examples, I know. It's quite early morning over here and I might be half asleep. So I almost didn't leave a comment at all because I am just (poorly) stating the obvious but the next article on my feed was legitimately perfect. Hey Barbs! I'm glad you commented 😊 - It is so true that people often retreat into their family units and modern life and infrastructure is quite hostile to that community living/ casual friendship hangs. I wish more of my friends lived closer to me. However I am fortunate in that I do have a some pals nearby and I do think craving a partner is a different type of loneliness? Or both can be true - more friendship can definitely help and the benefit of being single is you give so much more dedication to that (maybe - obviously lots of people in couples do too) but then I've always loved the idea of a busy home full of family and friends that blends that community & partnership.
